Community Ministries and Outreach
|
We encourage and assist outreach efforts while helping to improve the lives of the people in our community. By providing a place at HAB where people can meet, encourage, and help each other, we continue to be of service to our community. Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church provides many opportunities for service, growth in awareness, and spiritual understanding both within our congregation and out in our community.
The Community Ministries and Outreach Committee consists of several teams. Included are:
Greeters - We welcome and greet guests and members as they attend services and other events.
New Members - We interact with new members to welcome and inform them of programs and activities offered by the church.
Public Relations - We work with the media to promote church activities, ministries and programs.
Clothes Closet - We collect, sort and distribute clothes to various organizations throughout the community, state, and world.
Guest Relations - We provide follow-up visits and church information to visitors at all services.
Habijax - We construct two houses every spring as part of Presbyterian-Baptist Coalition.
IM Sulzbacher - We prepare and serve an evening meal to the homeless in Jacksonville once a month.
Special Gathering - We provide a ministry for the developmentally disabled community as part of a statewide non-denominational organization.
UCOM / CROP Walk - We unite an association of Southside churches (United Community Outreach Ministries) to meet the needs of the community through food drives and the annual crop walk.
Stepping Stones - We maintain a partnership with the Mental Health Resource Center to provide activities and fellowship.
Living Nativity - We orchestrate a dramatic presentation of the birth of Christ every December.
Guest Relations - We provide follow-up visits and church information to visitors at all services.
New Members Orientation - We interact with new members to welcome and inform them of programs and activities offered by the church.
Welcome Center - We greets and welcome guests and direct them to the appropriate service or bible study.
Parking Lot Greeters - We reach out to guests as they arrive and direct them to the appropriate worship service welcome center or appropriate class.
